NO ROOM TO BREATHE, ONLY ROOM TO ROCK: RISE AGAINST RULES THE HOUSE OF BLUES IN ANAHEIM

The House of Blues in Anaheim was the scene of unrestrained excitement for a sold-out Rise Against concert. The air was electric, with fans filling every available space in the venue. While sellouts are a staple for Rise Against, the room felt particularly crowded, hinting at the possibility of exceeding capacity—a testament to the band’s enduring appeal.

The night kicked off with a thirty-minute set by Cloud Nothings, an indie-rock band from Cleveland, Ohio. Their set was compact yet impactful, with gritty guitar tones and heartfelt vocals that engaged the audience early on. Though their set was brief, it effectively laid the groundwork for the night’s escalating intensity.

Following Cloud Nothings was L.S. Dunes, a group whose appearance brought a wave of nostalgia. Fronted by Anthony Green, best known for his time with Circa Survive, the band delivered a performance full of energy and emotion. Their set was dynamic and tight, blending Green’s unmistakable vocals with a fresh, modern sound. Watching Green in this new chapter of his career was a personal highlight, bringing back memories of his earlier work while showcasing his evolution as an artist.

When Rise Against took the stage, the energy reached its boiling point. From the opening chords, the room erupted in movement—mosh pits swirled, fans sang along at full volume, and the band fed off the crowd’s intensity, delivering a high-powered set filled with anthems. The unrelenting energy in the room felt almost tangible, amplifying every chord and lyric.

For a photographer, capturing the night’s essence amidst such chaos was a challenge, but one well worth the effort. The passion and raw energy in the room were unforgettable, encapsulating everything that makes live music so powerful. Rise Against once again proved why they remain a cornerstone of the punk rock scene, delivering a performance that left no doubt about their place in music history.
