NIIS SHAKE THINGS UP WITH RISE RECORDS SIGNING, NEW EP AND “EARTHQUAKE”

Los Angeles punk rockers NIIS are officially entering a new era. Today, September 9, the band announced their signing with Rise Records and plans to release their new EP, Play Niis, on October 23, 2026. Go ahead and put that one on your calendars now.

NIIS already made plenty of noise with their debut album, Niis World, released last year and packed with standout tracks like “Driveway” and “The Bow.” Now, with Rise Records behind them, the band joins a roster that has been home to heavy hitters like Dance Gavin Dance, Sleeping With Sirens, and Spiritbox. For one of LA’s most exciting punk bands, it feels like the beginning of something much bigger.

Coinciding with the announcement is a brand new single titled “Earthquake,” accompanied by a killer music video directed by Jake Woodbridge. The video opens with a cinematic black-and-white aesthetic, cutting back and forth between the band members as the song gradually builds. Frontwoman Mimi SanDoe commands the screen with undeniable presence and impeccable style, matching the restless energy running through the track.

“Earthquake” is about coming to terms with losing a great love and somehow continuing to grow through all the knee-shakes, heartbreak,, and pain that follow. Losing a connection that deep can feel genuinely earth-shattering, and NIIS turn that feeling into a love letter to heartbreak. There’s a nervous, emotional energy running through the song, like everything beneath your feet is suddenly shifting and you’re just trying to stay standing while the tectonic plates rearrange themselves.

That emotion never comes at the expense of what makes NIIS so much fun. “Earthquake” still hits with the urgency, attitude, and raw punk energy that have made the band such an exciting presence in the Los Angeles scene.

Go stream “Earthquake,” grab your tickets to see NIIS on tour, and get ready for Play Niis when it arrives October 23. Turn it up loud enough to feel it in your bones. Do it.
