NIGHTLIFE RELEASES ENERGETIC NEW SINGLE "FACE2FACE"

Nightlife, a genre-bending group based in Baltimore, just dropped their newest single “face2face” today, and if you haven’t caught onto the Nightlife wave by now–you absolutely should. They were added to legacy group Issues’ farewell tour lineup, signifying a well-deserved bright future for them.

“face2face” showcases much of what Nightlife excels at; a catchy hook captivates listeners and gets wallflowers out into a crowd. The group was hailed as one of the “artists reshaping rock music’s sound” by Kerrang! Magazine, and deservedly so. Subgenres keep rock music interesting to listen to, and Nightlife seamlessly combines funky dance music with well-known punk tricks. This subgenre is often referred to as ‘soul punk,’ and it adds an elevated layer of depth, generally speaking.

This song also showcases the effects of the group’s presence in the Baltimore music scene, which is already diverse and engaging. One could argue that the song’s secret sauce is the production value, curated by lead vocalist Hansel Romero. Their hands-on approach creates an authentic performance; each contributing member is encouraged to give it their all.

Guitarist Julian Lofton and drummer Isaiah Walker are symbiotically connected, giving a tight rhythm section throughout the entire mix. Lofton’s tonal choices and stylistic elements give the song a flashy Y2K pop flare. Finally, Walker’s pocket-based TR-808 drum beats round everything out, practically hypnotizing audiences to glide over to the dancefloor.
