NEUTRAL SNAP JUST DROPPED A POP-PUNK SUMMER HIT, “DANNY ACOG”

Self-described pop-punk disruptors Neutral Snap have returned with an absolute banger. Their newest single, “Danny ACOG,” is pure pop-punk perfection. It hits all the right places, especially as summer rolls in and the sound of a guitar tuned to Drop D begins to feel like home.

And much like the subgenre’s scrappy roots, the single tackles themes of unrequited lust. Many of us have become limericks (hi) thanks to the pandemic-era of isolation. This, albeit a sad reality, has given rise to some incredible music, and “Danny ACOG” is no exception. Relatable lyricism and insanely catchy hooks make it impossible to ignore.

Thematically, the song seems simple enough, but its charm lies within its truth—we’ve all been there. Someone once said, “a crush is just a lack of information,” which I have mostly found to be SO true. Save for one or two exceptions, many of us are just lusting and morally conflicted about it. At least Neutral Snap dares to say the quiet part out loud. Honestly? Respect.

“Danny ACOG” could potentially be the pop-punk song of the summer. We’re all beginning to gear up for Warped Tour, and though Neutral Snap isn’t on the lineup, they fit in with this frame in time perfectly well. They have already seen plenty of success, but at this rate, they are only commanding more.
