MOTHER OF EARL IS BRINGING THE BACK MOTOR CITY SOUND OF MOTOWN WITH “VENOMOUS SNAKE”

Who says young bands aren’t listening to their grandparents or great-grandparents ’ music (gulp!) several generations removed? Or maybe just some friends or peers turned them on to it? Either way, Mother of Earl is paying a very faithful and loving tribute to the seminal and iconic music of Motown. The difference is that it is trendy today and has a modern twist. This zesty and energetic track is also influenced by indie rock and pop. The villain or toxic person in the song is the venomous snake with all the extensive slithery imagery that goes with it taking over the love interest’s “garden” or “yard,” so to speak. The theme is losing yourself in love and becoming something entirely different, something you don’t like at all. The addictive aspect of infatuation and going deeper and deeper into that all-consuming rabbit hole that swallows one up from head to tail. The nucleus of Mother of Earl is Alex Namni and Ross Weidman. They are the founding members. Rounding out the band is a revolving group of talented and like-minded musicians. Mother of Earl has been compared to Arctic Monkeys, Blur, and The Walkmen. Each group's elements can be heard in the group’s sound. “Venomous Snake” is melodic, danceable, R&B flavored, and rocking.
