MORNING ARCADE UNVEIL PASSIONATE DEBUT RECORD “COLD SHOULDERS”

Indie rock band Morning Arcade have released their stunning debut record “Cold Shoulders” touching on the current climate crisis. Together the group craft a dreamy indie-pop sound perfect for those reflective late-night road trips. 

The first thing that struck me about “Cold Shoulders” is how moving the song is in terms of its songwriting and production. The track starts driving a steady beat with glossy echoing guitars floating above. What sets this song apart for me is Bethan Ayres (vocals/keys) lyricism and vocal melody. Her soft-spoken breathy voice is beautifully delicate, allowing the message of the track to shine through. Bethan sings “In the city hailing light, Overcame denial of the truth, Only you can wake yourself from dreams, Only you can save the world.” 

Speaking on the single the group advised: “Cold Shoulders was written in response to the constant stream of news surrounding environmental destruction”.  The message of calling everyone, especially those in power to change the way we treat our planet comes at an appropriate time with Extinction Rebellion protests currently spread across the UK. “Cold Shoulders” has demonstrated the group's songwriting and instrumental talents sparking excitement for what’s to follow.

Cold Shoulders was written in response to the constant stream of news surrounding environmental destruction and in the song I call out the indifference we all have towards it in some way.
