MILLIONAIRES RETURN WITH REVAMPED VERSION OF HIT MYSPACE SINGLE “THE WEEKEND” UPON SIGNING TO GRAVEBOY RECORDS

Bands like Millionaires paved the way for significant scene events, pioneering sounds whether people like them or not. Before there was Ke$ha, there were Millionaires; regardless of opinions, it’s undeniable that the unique spirit Millionaires represent indicates the scene as a more significant sum of moving parts. “The Weekend” is a reminder to let your hair down. It’s easy to fall into the trap of taking yourself too seriously, but Millionaires prove that music can be fun with no strings attached.

The original version of this song was a major cult classic, along with multiple other Millionaires originals. Their party girl anthems have transcended time, gracefully circling back to Gen Z. Given current trends, Millionaires are more relevant now than they were back then. Maybe I am biased, as an elder Gen Z who now has the means to enjoy Millionaires the way they are intended to be.

Sonically, the track’s revamp is incredibly well-produced without being “too much” despite being a crunkcore hit. Modern crunkcore is a fascinating beast; there are more resources to work with now, but sometimes toning it back the way “The Weekend” did makes for a more sonically pleasing product.

Millionaires are fully embracing the future despite returning to their past. Vocals by founding member Melissa Marie make room for comfortable familiarity, while new member Meredith Hurley adds quite a bit of depth to the free-flowing track.

The group also signed a deal with Emo Nite’s label, Graveboy Records, asserting they are here to stay!

Melissa Marie told GSM, “We’re just here to party! <3”
