WET LEG RELEASES THIRD SINGLE “DAVINA MCCALL” AHEAD OF SOPHOMORE ALBUM MOISTURIZER

Isle of Wight indie-rock duo Wet Leg have dropped the third preview from their upcoming second album, moisturizer, scheduled for release on July 11, 2025 via Domino. This time, the spotlight is on “davina mccall,” a gentle yet emotionally compelling track that showcases a side of the band previously only hinted at through off-kilter humor and art-punk textures.
Named after the famous Big Brother host, “davina mccall” unfolds as a tender ballad about pure, almost absurd devotion—mining lyrical territory both earnest and slightly ridiculous, a combination that perfectly fits their aesthetic. The song marks a more melodic turn in their sound, showing that beneath the glitchy guitar hooks lies a band capable of unexpected warmth and emotional range.
The companion video, directed by Chris Hopewell, brings Wet Leg’s whimsical vision to life in stop-motion animation. The band’s clay alter egos embark on a surreal road trip to track down a mischievous feather-stealing goblin—an homage to their earlier visual humor seen in the “CPR” clip. The visuals perfectly match the song’s playful yet heartfelt tone.
In a behind-the-scenes look at the track’s genesis, guitarist Hester Chambers explains that “davina mccall” grew out of jam sessions with Ellis Durand, while frontwoman Rhian Teasdale refined the melody and lyrics—a process described as piecing together a mystery. That collaborative spark is evident in the song’s effortless blend of intimacy and intrigue.
“davina mccall” follows lead singles “CPR” and “catch these fists,” each pushing deeper into the darker, more experimental sound Teasdale and Chambers explored while secluded in a Norfolk country house. As part of the album rollout, Wet Leg are hosting 180+ listening parties worldwide—including an outstore event at London’s Electric Ballroom—and will preview tracks live at Glastonbury this weekend.
