MAX EVEREST’S NEW SINGLE “FENG SHUI” GIVES AN INSIDE LOOK INTO THE LONDON UNDERGROUND SCENE
Max Everest is an indie artist based in London, and his experimental vibes are contagious. His new track “Feng Shui” is not only expertly produced, but an amazing example of what his hometown scene is capable of.
“Feng Shui” showcases a chill aura, with ambient vocal layers sprinkled throughout. Lyrically sparse, this song gives nods to some earlier Kanye West production styles. Think of your favorite song from ‘The Life Of Pablo,’ and imagine if the chorus was the focal point instead of the verses. That’s what “Feng Shui” sounds like.
However, don’t get it twisted; though “Feng Shui” isn’t very lyrically dense, the poetry that it does feature is inspiring. Max Everest uses a “less is more” approach to tell his stories, and his execution is truly phenomenal.
As a critic across the pond, I am honored to have been given this insight into a scene I might not get to experience for myself. The musicians of London have a strong myriad of influences that they aren’t afraid to experiment within their tracks. The energy of this song is moody, a bit grungy, and dreamy all at the same time. If that’s what the London underground scene has to offer, I’m a fan.
