MAWD BIRTHS A NEW SINGLE "HOT SHIT" OUT OF A FIT OF ANGER, EMPATHY AND SELF-REALIZATION
MAWD considers 2020 a year of clarity. Under the flame of fury felt when frontwoman Madeline Mathews admired a band she loved being wreckless during the quarantine. The band exhibited the rambunctious and rebellious behavior of flicking cigarettes out of their car while partying mask-less with their friends on social media, rendering themselves completely tone-deaf to the state of the rest of the world.
MAWD was baffled by the other social media icons, friends, and family who were either silent or revealed their racist tendencies during the Black Lives Matter movement as well, all leading up to the 2020 election. As the inflated social media gatherings began growing larger and louder, Matthews wrote "Hot Shit" with intentions of it to be an angry anthem about seeing people clearly for the first time.
With the world being in quarantine, MAWD gathered instrumental tracks remotely from her writing partner Josiah Mazzaschi where she wrote the vocal melody and lyrics from home. The instrumental immediately struck Matthews, as she claimed it to be perfect to match the emotion she was feeling.
