MATHURA UNCOMPLICATE THINGS WITH THEIR NEW SINGLE “RUN”

Catchy rock songs are underrated. Seems like more and more musicians want to write songs with unique time signatures and erratic vocals, which I am all for. Be different and make yourself stand out. But there is something to be said for keeping songs simple and easily digestible.

On Mathura’s new single “Run,” he combines straightforward rock and polished vocals to create a solid song. You start walking with the verse, but when you get to the chorus, you can’t help but run. It’s a kind of chorus that is effortless, in a sing-along-in-your-car sort of way. The journey ends with a passionate ending that completes the relay, wrapping everything up in a bow. I can easily imagine hearing “Run” on the SiriusXM Octane channel, as it sounds like it belongs on the Shinedown/Breaking Benjamin family tree.

“Run” is a well-produced tune that successfully threads the needle of being catchy without being too pop, and displays Mathura’s talent for telling a story in a smooth, free-flowing way. Simple but not dumbed down, “Run” provides proof that rock doesn’t have to be complicated.
