MAISIE MAY RELEASES NEW TRACK “MOURN U L8R”

Dedicated to all our lost loves, the ones who got away, the ones who got to love us for only a month, the ones who cheated, lied, or never even made it out the talking stage, or even our last selves. “Mourn u l8r” is the 3rd single of Maisie May’s EP ‘FLIRT MASOCHIST’, written during a time of vulnerability in her life.

The harp sound in the beginning, which was most likely just a guitar, was hypnotizing. As soon as her vocals start, there is a resemblance to artists like The Cranberries, Caroline Polachek, Eartheater, and similar experimental pop female artists. “Mourn u l8r” gives me the feel of a Panchiko sound. The electronic and very technical sound effects make it robotic and futuristic.

The song itself reflected the boundaries we create to protect ourselves, but ultimately, they can also be self-sabotaging. May writes the song to paint a picture “of the impulsive choice to pursue someone you’re not even into, as a way to distract yourself from choosing the right person and risk getting hurt.”

The lyrical work, production, synths, and drum melodies within the track make it special. What are your thoughts?
