THE IVY IGNITES SPARKS AT THE MOROCCAN LOUNGE

WORDS AND PHOTOS BY JACKIE NG

The Ivy, hailing from Oklahoma, transported its electric vibes to the heart of LA at the Moroccan Lounge. Nestled in a cozy ambiance filled with galactic 90’s pop synths, the Ivy embarked on its first headlining tour, setting the stage for a fun night. In a recent article, the band shared insights into their meticulous preparation, ensuring a seamless fusion of captivating lighting production with their melodic tunes.

The evening kicked off with the band's first song, accompanied by vivid visuals and lyrics rolling across the screen, sparking cheers of enthusiasm from the audience. The setlist featured tracks like "Gold" and "Have You Ever Been in Love" -- personally two of my favorite songs.

Wyatt and Shawn, the lead singer and guitarist of the band performed with such rich chemistry and comfort together– it was easy to see that they were close, familiar friends. The two met back in 2016 at music school and quickly created songs together. Delving into their musical roots in a recent interview, The Ivy mentions that their musical influences grew from a common space of bands they grew up listening to; indie alt-rock mixed with electronic influences.

The Moroccan Lounge proved to be the perfect canvas for the Ivy's musical consistency as Wyatt's velvety vocals matched the vibrant visuals and colorful beats. The Ivy was meant for the Moroccan Lounge, an intimate space where old and new friends meet.
