In the wake of 2020 political turmoil in the United States, Ian Abel became angry. Through that anger, he created a neo-soul song from his heart. With the three harmonies mixed with a sultry trap beat, moments of synth, and natural vocals, you hear the plea for justice Abel has in his voice. "I was in a real moment of anger: at Trump, at the police, at legislators, at the people who bullied me and made me feel worthless growing up", says Abel. "I was trying to capture the sense of helplessness a lot of us were feeling at the time, then direct that energy into something more powerful: rage".
