HUSKY LOOPS’ NEW SINGLE “ACTING STUPID” IS PSYCHEDELIC INFLUENCED, DISSONANT INDIE ROCK

“Acting Stupid” by the London trio Husky Loops is not a “song,” in the traditional sense, and without the bio supplied, one would be clueless about the lyrics, and if there were any. The song explores the concept of love being too good to be real. I was interested in the contrast between feeling that fresh, spring-like excitement of a new hope and, fast-forward to the end, wishing you could be like the person that ends the relationship: meaning that you wish you could move on too and be, perhaps, a little colder and more careless.

Nowadays, the more logical approach is seen as the better approach, but we all act silly when we meet someone special, at any age, and in any circumstance. I wanted to delve into that with this song. “Love sounds too good to exist” and “Sometimes I wish I was more like you” encapsulate the idea.” Lyrics aside, the bottom line is the unusual track is more about how the listener may feel or the moods it puts them in listening to this unique single. What’s most striking is the construction of the song itself. The utilization of random and off-kilter time modulation, tape machines, and strange fluttery noises. Though there are real, organic instruments being played by the trio as well. Husky Loops features Danio Forni on vocals and guitar, Tommaso Medica on bass, and Pietro Garrone on drums and samples.

“Acting Stupid” is probably best listened to in an altered state of being to catch the trippy vibe with some good drugs or weed.
