HOORSEES' NEW SINGLE "NEW CAREER" IS A CHEERFULLY MIXED FUN RIDE
Instantly likable and catchy, Hoorsees’ new single “New Career,” should be at the top of all playlists. The best songs are the ones that grow stronger with repeated listening propelled by the irresistible hooks you can’t get out of your head. “New Career” is one of them.
The bright-sounding guitar and synth-pop/rocker feel familiar yet are different at the same time reminiscent of material by The Strokes as a reference point. Yet there is an undercurrent of melancholy in “New Career” and biting, sarcastic vocal delivery courtesy of the Parisian quartet’s lead singer Alex Delamard. He intones with disgust and distaste bemoaning his fate in what seems like working unhappily in a dead-end job. Delamard seems to feel like a drone and he is wasting days, and life, in a cookie-current position that offers no opportunity to tap into his joy or creative spirit.
Still, “New Career,” manages to entertain, and make you want to dance and rock out, despite the grim and dire circumstances of hating your job.
