HEALTH & CHELSEA WOLFE CONJURE DARK ALCHEMY ON NEW SINGLE “MEAN”

Mynxii White / Ebru Yildiz

When two of the most sonically adventurous and emotionally intense forces in modern music collide, you expect fireworks—or, in this case, an atmospheric detonation.

HEALTH has teamed up with goth-folk queen Chelsea Wolfe for a new single titled “MEAN”, and it hits like a haunted sermon delivered over a bed of industrial decay. Released via Loma Vista Recordings, the track is the latest in HEALTH’s long tradition of collaborations that push genre boundaries and plunge headfirst into the void.

Built on a foundation of pounding synths, mechanical percussion, and walls of distorted texture, “MEAN” thrives in its bleakness. It’s punishing and beautiful—a perfect meeting point between HEALTH’s brutalist sound design and Wolfe’s otherworldly vocal delivery. The track feels like it was pulled from the depths of a broken dream, with Chelsea’s haunting voice weaving through the chaos like a ghostly guide.

Lyrically, “MEAN” is sparse but piercing. Wolfe doesn’t need many words to evoke the sting of emotional damage. She lets the space between the lyrics breathe, amplifying the tension. HEALTH, known for their meticulous production and unrelenting sonic assault, keeps things tightly wound—never overplaying their hand, just letting the dread build.

This isn’t the first time HEALTH has reached across genre lines for a high-stakes collaboration. Their DISCO series of remixes and joint efforts has included names like Nine Inch Nails, Perturbator, and Ghostemane. But “MEAN” stands apart. It’s not just a fusion—it’s a full, seamless merging of two dark energies.

Both acts have cultivated rabid cult followings, and this track feels like a gift to the fans who crave emotional weight wrapped in a harsh, cinematic soundscape. It’s not a radio single. It’s not TikTok bait. “MEAN” is a slow-burning reckoning—a soundtrack to a world cracking at the edges.

If this is a preview of what’s to come from either artist this year, consider us fully strapped in.
