GODZILLA IN THE KITCHEN TERRORIZES FALSE TRUTHS ON THEIR NEWEST TRACK “HUMILITY”

What is the monster cooking up over there?

The humorously named trio Godzilla in the Kitchen have returned with “Humility,” a new track that throws their progressive, psychedelic, stoner rock, and doom metal influences into one seriously heavy pot.

The fourth and final single from their upcoming album Termination Sequence, “Humility” brings together each member’s musical strengths through deliciously downtuned guitars, odd time signatures, and gradual tempo shifts. Sandwiched between dense riffs and slower passages, an incredible interlude starts restrained, then steadily builds into a killer jam.

Lyrically, “Humility” targets an increasingly familiar problem: the truth gets harder to find when headlines become fact, and everyone suddenly becomes an expert on everything. The song argues for a little intellectual humility, something we could probably all use more of. Some of us more than others. That frustration bleeds directly into the track’s heavy, uneasy atmosphere.

Musically, “Humility” is a sludgy slab of stoner rock that channels Matt Pike of Sleep and High on Fire, while the vocals carry shades of Troy Sanders of Mastodon. The combination fits the band surprisingly well. After jumping from an instrumental outfit to one with vocals and adding Thiago Presto behind the kit, Godzilla in the Kitchen sounds ready to carve out a much bigger place for themselves in the alternative metal world.

Termination Sequence arrives October 23.
