GLAZYHAZE BREATHES LIFE INTO NEW SHOEGAZE TRACK “WHAT A FEELING”
Glazyhaze creates a compelling argument; reigniting a spark within yourself is as euphoric as the sounds in their shoegaze track, “What A Feeling.” The band is gearing up for their sophomore album, to be released in 2025. “What A Feeling” is promising, showcasing the band’s new raw and direct soundscape.
The single is powered by heavily distorted guitars, a staple in shoegaze. After all, the genre was bestowed its name thanks to the constant need to gaze at one's shoes to click buttons on an overly complex pedalboard. In the modern age, shoegaze artists can take all the bells and whistles provided by technological improvements. Glazyhaze established an otherworldly tone for “What A Feeling,” encapsulating the high of realizing one's worth.
One note: I wish I could hear the lead vocals more. I understand that they are meant to be subdued; however, the vocal performance is ethereal when it is given a chance to shine. Sometimes, the other layers overpower it in a way that transcends aesthetic, creative choice.
Still, “What A Feeling” is an impressive effort from Glazyhaze. Their introspective lyricism and melodic arrangement make for a fresh, new track. This breath of fresh air is necessary as people long for more self-empowerment without the corny corporate overtones.
