FUTURE.EXBOYFRIEND UNVEIL PSYCHEDELIC GROOVE IN “HAPPY TO PRETEND”
future.exboyfriend aka Tyler Harris has released his new single “Happy to Pretend” shortly following the release of his debut 14-track DIY album Party in a Lonely Head. future.exboyfriend is Harris’s first solo venture after becoming well-known in his local scene as the lead singer of indie-pop group Mojave Nomads. Harris now continues his continuous stream of 2020 music releases with “Happy to Pretend”.
Tyler’s sound is characterized by a psychedelic DIY aesthetic featuring sweeping synths, relatable lyricism, and of course his unique high-pitched penetrating vocals. “Happy to Pretend” is a playful and highly danceable blending natural groove with atmospheric electronic elements. The chorus of the new track is truly infectious and well-produced highlighting Tyler's distinctive vocals with a variety of FX including delays, vocoder, and filter sweeps.
It’s been a very productive year for the young indie artist, but future.exboyfriend shows no signs of slowing down. “Happy to Pretend” is a superb follow-up to Harris’s debut LP well capturing the feelings of pretending to be okay in a time of confusion and uncertainty.
