FRANK IVY’S “MALIBU” IS A SMOOTH INDIE ROCK TRACK THAT DELIVERS GOOD FEELINGS

Frank Ivy has crafted a likable and genuinely laid-back single, “Malibu.” The Bay Area songwriter and producer has been favorably compared to Tame Impala, Kid Bloom, and Beck. Yes, the comparisons are somewhat credible and believable to a point. However, many musical influences abound within the stylistic bent of his creative musical work. One in particular that stands out is psychedelic pop. His mellow vocals are awash in what can be described as “lo-fi/lite R&B haziness.” Can you say blue-eyed soul on the very “white” end of the spectrum? Frank Ivy sounds like that, and it’s very indie “pop.” There is a place for all kinds of music, and Frank Ivy fills his niche nicely with his latest song, “Malibu.”
