“F**K YOU SIR” BY EDGING SAYS EVERYTHING YOU WISH YOU COULD

Edging is a punk rock band that does the genre proud. Their name alone is enough to excite you about what they’re doing. Then, you dive into their sound, which is exactly what you think it’d be in the best way possible.

Vocalist Faith Callaway uses unmistakable riot-grrrl techniques to deliver a powerhouse performance. As a woman in music, voices like Callaway are important; she says everything I wish I could in certain situations.

The lyrics are straight to the point, leaving little room for nuance to influence a listener’s experience with the single. Again, it’s the same kind of punk rock technique that makes you want to start a circle pit.

Instrumentally, the guitar playing and drumming stand out the most. The synchronicity of the whole group allows Callaway to deliver her message and performance without worrying too much about counting rhythms. I hope that Edging’s recent successes, especially with their latest releases, are enough to suggest a riot grrrl resurgence. The world needs it!
