Final Gasp has unveiled their latest single, “No Hand To Lead,” the newest preview of their upcoming album New Day Symptoms, out February 27 via Relapse Records.
“No Hand To Lead” doubles down on the band’s cold, driving blend of deathrock and post punk. The bassline stalks at the center of the mix, dark and unrelenting, while the guitars cut through with sharp, angular tension. There is a bleak urgency to the track, but it never spirals out of control. Instead, it feels tightly wound, deliberate, and focused.
Vocally, the performance carries a detached intensity that mirrors the song’s themes of isolation and directionless struggle. The delivery feels restrained yet emotionally charged, creating a push-and-pull between vulnerability and defiance. Meanwhile, the drums keep everything grounded with a steady, propulsive rhythm that gives the track its pulse.
Vocalist Jake Murphy reflected on the band’s evolution and the creative shift behind the new material:
“I think we’re still figuring it out, to be honest. It’s like most things, when you start out, you have a vision and stick to it, and we just quickly realised we could do so much more with it. We blossomed into a group of people with similar influences, but who see them from different perspectives. We could hear the band beginning a new chapter.”
