FIELDRUSH’S NEW SONG “WORST TEAM EVER” IS CATCHY AF
Fieldrush offers a true California emo sound, for those who crave long drives along the 5 as the stars shine along the ocean—you might even catch a whale or two as you pass by questionably-shaped nuclear waste. Picture it; this song is playing as your friend graciously gave you the aux, the windows are down, and you’re having the time of your life. “Worst Team Ever” sounds like a core memory, shared with people you care about the most.
There is a distinctive difference between Midwest emo and West Coast emo. Those of us Sombrero’s burrito-loving punk rock aficionados have a bit of residual Blink 182 moments left in us, but Fieldrush only sprinkled them lightly throughout the track. Otherwise, they took what they learned from the greats, and created something of their own doing…and it works well!
Twinkly and moving, “Worst Team Ever” is undeniably catchy. The new wave of emo artists is cooking up something really special, and every time I receive submissions like Fieldrush’s new song, I get really excited about it. Nostalgia is awesome in healthy doses, but Fieldrush shows their musical prowess by engaging their audience with witty lyricism, an unforgettable, energetic melody, and a sparkling clean lead guitar riff. Any classic emo anthem has at least one standout lyric that sticks with you for a minimum of two decades. For “Worst Team Ever,” that lyric is: “Can you feel like you’re falling apart?”
This group has a lot of unique energy that can help them generate audiences across the board.
Everything is tight as can be, the vocals are in it, and the single is a straight-up earworm. I’ll be singing that chorus while I reply to emails tomorrow morning.
