ENDEARMENTS’ “OPEN HAND” NOW HAS A NEW STARK AND MOODY PERFORMANCE VIDEO

Last year, the Brooklyn, New York-based dream pop Endearments made their way into the hearts of their fans with the release of “Open Hand.” It has also become a favorite song featured at their live shows. The accompanying video shows the group playing together as a tight-knit and passionate unit. The track is shot in a Super 16mm film. Endearments give a nod to the song’s “Late-70s Post-Punk Influences.” The engrossing rocking single tackles cheating and the relationship affected. There seems to be a somewhat loose policy at play here. The injured party may allow the one with the roving eye to come back home, but “don’t call me, not tonight.” There is some resignation, sadness, and knowing how things will turn out. The myriad and complexity of conflicting emotions give “Open Hand” its immediacy and depth and hone in on heartbreak that is genuinely palatable.
