ELL1OT’S EXPERIMENTAL ROCK SOUND ASCENDS IN NEW SINGLE “PLAN Z”

Some introductions are deceiving. Such is the case for eell1ot, an experimental rock artist from England. His latest single, “Plan Z,” certainly doesn’t end the way you would assume based on its beginning. Initially, “Plan Z” speaks slowly and steadily. Then, it hits you with a cathartic outburst, full of energy through the last note. If the instrumental wasn’t impressive enough, eell1ot’s songwriting takes the cake.

He might suggest he’ll “write another shitty song.”

Once again, Ell1ot remains a master of deception.

His signature sound has an edgy quality, the raw DIY grit that hooks audiences across the board (or pond…). Still, it’s composed so intentionally that the build evokes Radiohead catharsis. He offers My Chemical Romance levels of harmonics. These creative instincts are not aligned with someone who writes “shitty songs.”

The first couple of seconds of “Plan Z” do not sound the same as the rest of it. These are the makings of all of my favorite bands’ B-sides. While that may sound backhanded, it’s not. My favorite bands all seem to follow a suspicious path, where diehards like me herald their B-sides as their best work.

eell1ot is a fantastic case-study for supporting your local scene. He may not be local to me. But if you’re across the pond, you should check out one of his shows. I can only imagine the cathartic release that would ensue by hearing “Plan Z” live, which translates perfectly well on its own.
