ROCKET ANNOUNCE DEBUT ALBUM R IS FOR ROCKET AND DROP EXPLOSIVE NEW SINGLE “WIDE AWAKE”

Los Angeles alt-rock outfit Rocket have officially announced their long-awaited debut album, R Is For Rocket, dropping October 3 via Transgressive and Canvasback. Alongside the news, they’ve released the lead single, “Wide Awake”—a blistering, emotionally-charged track that wastes no time establishing this band as more than just a buzzy opener or underground favorite. They’re stepping into the spotlight with full intent.

“Wide Awake” captures the raw, fuzzed-out intensity Rocket has become known for onstage. It’s jagged and propulsive, driven by guitarist Desi Scaglione’s gritty tones and Alithea Tuttle’s soaring, hypnotic vocals. The track feels alive—like it could combust at any moment—and that tension gives it real weight. Recorded in two phases, with the band going back to rework songs nearly eight months after the initial sessions, the song speaks to the care and evolution Rocket poured into this project.

Lyrically, “Wide Awake” explores themes of emotional unraveling and self-awareness, serving as a perfect window into the broader arc of R Is For Rocket. Tuttle has said the record is rooted in relationships—not just romantic ones, but the fragile, complicated connections we have with ourselves and the world around us. That introspective foundation is wrapped in a high-octane package of melody, distortion, and punk-drenched polish.

Rocket has been building momentum since their 2021 debut, gaining attention with their Versions of You EP and sharing stages with bands like Ride, Sunny Day Real Estate, and Silversun Pickups. Now, with their debut album and a UK tour supporting Smashing Pumpkins on the horizon, followed by a full North American headline run this fall, Rocket is no longer just rising—they’re ready for launch.

With “Wide Awake,” Rocket doesn’t just announce their debut—they kick the door open and dare you to keep up.
