POPTONES URGE URGENCY ON SHIMMERING NEW SINGLE “SAY SOMETHING NOW”

Poptones by Rune Gro-Nielsen

London-based alt-pop outfit Poptones have dropped their latest single “Say Something Now”, and it’s a sleek, emotionally charged stunner that hits with immediacy and intimacy in equal measure. The track arrives ahead of their upcoming album Pure, due out September 26th via Happy Metal Records—and if this single is any indication, the album’s going to be a big one.

Built around a glimmering synth bed and a heartbeat pulse of drums, “Say Something Now” is both lush and minimal—leaving space for frontperson Jamie Wilde’s aching vocals to do their thing. The chorus hits like a wave of neon-tinted desperation, capturing that universally gutting feeling of waiting for someone else to make the first move... and realizing they might never do it.

There’s a certain clean sadness to the production—shiny, sure, but never hollow. Think The 1975 meets MUNA by way of mid-2000s indie pop, wrapped in a modern, melancholic sheen. It’s polished without feeling overworked, catchy without feeling cheap.

If you’ve ever stared at a phone, re-reading the last message, “Say Something Now” is your anthem. And if Pure keeps this same energy, Poptones are poised to go from under-the-radar darlings to breakout stars.
