Alternative rock icons Dinosaur Jr. are officially back. The legendary trio has announced their brand-new album, There Near, arriving August 28 via Jagjaguwar, while also unveiling the record's lead single, “Several Got Away,” alongside an accompanying music video.

Marking the band's first full-length release since 2021's Sweep It Into Space, There Near promises another chapter in the unmistakable Dinosaur Jr. formula: towering guitar solos, fuzz-soaked riffs, melodic hooks, and the signature songwriting that has made the band one of alternative rock's most influential acts for more than four decades.

Leading the announcement is “Several Got Away,” a track that captures everything longtime fans have come to expect from the band. The song balances shimmering melodies with walls of distortion as J Mascis delivers his unmistakable laid-back vocals over soaring guitar work. The accompanying video matches the song's reflective atmosphere while offering the first glimpse into the sonic world of There Near.

To celebrate the release, Dinosaur Jr. will also embark on a fall North American tour, giving fans across the continent the chance to hear new material alongside beloved classics spanning the band's celebrated catalog. Tour dates are available now, with tickets expected to move quickly as the trio returns to the road in support of the new album.

Few bands have left a mark on alternative rock quite like Dinosaur Jr. Since emerging in the mid-1980s, the band has become a cornerstone of indie rock, influencing generations of artists with their unique blend of blistering guitar work, noise, melody, and emotional songwriting. With There Near, Dinosaur Jr. shows there's still plenty left in the tank, proving once again that their signature sound remains as compelling as ever.
