DIE SPITZ TURN SUBURBAN AMERICA INSIDE OUT IN “AMERICAN PORN” VIDEO
Die Spitz by Kyra Ganson
Riding a wave of momentum, Die Spitz have dropped the video for “American Porn,” and it lands just as hard visually as the track does sonically.
Pulled from their debut album Something to Consume, out now via Third Man Records, the song is one of the band’s most direct statements to date. It’s loud, confrontational, and unapologetically sharp, taking aim at the kind of surface-level attention and objectification that still lingers around women in music.
That same energy carries into the video, which places the band inside a hyper-stylized, stereotypical American home that quickly unravels into something far more unsettling. What starts as familiar domestic imagery turns into a twisted, almost surreal environment filled with disturbing details and off-kilter visuals. There’s a deliberate contrast between the clean, “normal” setting and the strange, chaotic elements creeping into every corner. At one point, a housewife figure stands posed on a fireplace holding an AR-style rifle, while outside, blood-stained white sheets hang on a clothesline. It’s jarring, uncomfortable, and clearly intentional.
Directed by Emily Sanchez, who also serves as co-director of photography with Alex Le, the video leans fully into that unease rather than pulling back. Produced by Karla O. Armendariz and Sanchez, it matches the band’s raw, abrasive sound with imagery that feels just as unfiltered. It doesn’t try to be subtle. It’s meant to make you sit with it.
Musically, “American Porn” walks a tight line between aggression and control. The guitars are jagged and immediate, the rhythm section pushes everything forward without letting up, and the vocals cut through with a tone that feels more confrontational than performative. It’s direct, loud, and fully locked in.
The release comes as Die Spitz gears up for a busy run overseas, with summer UK and EU dates on the horizon, including appearances at Download Festival and support slots with the Foo Fighters. It’s a step up that reflects how quickly things are moving.
