DEVIN MØRE FACES EXISTENTIAL DREAD HEAD-ON IN NEW SINGLE, “TELL MYSELF IT’S FINE”

Art prevails even in the darkest of humanitarian crises. It’d be disingenuous to assume we aren’t all feeling the effects of global powers with too much authority making choices on behalf of the rest of us. These days, it appears that division is the end goal when it should be community. Devin Møre candidly expresses these feelings of helplessness in his dreamy new indie single, “Tell Myself It’s Fine.”

Many can relate to the sentiment. Sometimes, it’s impossible to fully convince yourself that everything is okay because, frankly, it’s not. Truthfully, allegorically explaining these feelings through a bad relationship is genius. Glistening synthesizers and gorgeously fuzzy guitars ooze with ambiance as an intentionally autotuned vocal, a la Julian Casablancas, pours out emotion.

Although tumultuous, this sociopolitical period will pave the way for great music, as proven effortlessly by Møre. His spirit may be wavering, but thankfully, his artistic expression hangs onto the right audience. People everywhere will find comfort in “Tell Myself It’s Fine” and its intense lyricism.

“Tell Myself It’s Fine” offers both a potent mix, filled with the same Strokes-y charm that made many of us fall in love with the genre, and emotional intelligence. Møre’s ear for sociopolitical commentary fits beautifully with this genre, and his creative limits seemingly know no bounds.
