Death Cab for Cutie are back with a new chapter. The band has announced their upcoming album I Built You a Tower, set for release June 5 via ANTI- Records, along with the debut of its first single, “Riptides.”
The new record marks the band’s latest full-length effort and follows a long run of releases that have kept Death Cab firmly planted in the indie rock conversation for more than two decades. Led by Ben Gibbard, the group has built a reputation for balancing introspective songwriting with atmospheric arrangements.
The album’s lead single, “Riptides,” arrives as the first glimpse into the project. The track leans into the band’s familiar blend of melodic guitars and reflective lyricism while maintaining the understated emotional weight fans have come to expect.
Alongside the album announcement, Death Cab for Cutie have also revealed a run of UK tour dates scheduled for September, giving fans overseas their first opportunity to hear the new material live following the album’s release.
Since their formation in the late ’90s, Death Cab for Cutie have remained one of indie rock’s most enduring acts, with albums like Transatlanticism and Plans helping define the genre’s early 2000s era. With I Built You a Tower, the band continues to expand a catalog that has soundtracked countless late-night drives, breakups, and quiet moments for listeners around the world.
I Built You a Tower arrives June 5 on ANTI- Records, with “Riptides” available to stream/watch below:
