“DEAD INSIDE” BY HALFWAY DOWN IS AN EMO KID’S DREAM

Halfway Down introduces their new single “Dead Inside” with what is perhaps the catchiest guitar riff of all time. Not to mention, their guitar tones blend together seamlessly throughout the whole track, introducing techniques from metalcore and emo.

More artists, especially in alt subgenres, seem more confident with experimenting, and we should all be thankful for that. This healthy nostalgia, paired with new creative directions, is responsible for the earworm hook in “Dead Inside.”

Plus, the song features a good, old-fashioned hardcore breakdown before a poppy bridge. The song is an incredibly fun listen, a reminder that music can be well-produced and fun at the same time.

The acapella outro could become a staple for Halfway Down if they continue to play around with the technique. It fits well in this track, but they could easily make it a part of their signature sound. Overall, “Dead Inside” showcases the band’s potential extremely well.
