DANCING AT THE WHEEL: THE EMOTIONAL PUSH-AND-PULL OF SACE6’S “COVET”

If you didn’t know who sace6 was before hearing “covet,” chances are you won’t forget them afterward. The track immediately drops the listener into an uncomfortable yet vivid moment: watching someone you care about grow closer to another person right in front of you. From the start, “covet” feels like an emotional tug-of-war set against a constantly shifting soundscape.

The song opens with a dance-leaning groove that feels light and inviting, pulling the listener into its rhythm. But that mood doesn’t last long. Heavier guitar textures soon crash in, creating a sharp contrast that mirrors the tension in the lyrics. It’s a uniquely painful experience — not hearing about something later, but witnessing it happen right in front of you. That tension feeds directly into one of the track’s most striking lines: “Makes me second-guess if I wasted all my patience, held up my expectations, you made it all my fault.” It’s the sound of someone trying to make sense of a shift they can feel but can’t stop.

Musically, sace6 thrive on contrast. The blend of danceable pop energy with bursts of heavy guitar creates a sound that constantly moves between clarity and chaos. That tension perfectly captures the messy emotional space of wanting answers while knowing they might never come.

“covet” arrives as anticipation continues to build for sace6’s debut album brutalist, due out May 8. The band will also be hitting the road throughout the spring and summer, joining nothing, nowhere on the Return of the Reaper Tour in Australia before heading back to the U.S. for the Pale Moonlight Tour with Dayseeker, alongside Northlane and Wind Walkers. They’ll also make multiple appearances at Warped Tour, with stops in Washington, D.C., Long Beach, Mexico City, and Orlando.
