DAFT PUNK ANNOUNCE BREAK UP: END OF AN ERA FOR ELECTRONIC MUSIC

The French musical duo formed in 1993 are acclaimed for their timeless hits combining elements of techno, funk, disco, rock, and house music. Today, the pioneering electronic duo announce that they have broken up via an eight-minute sequence, dubbed “Epilogue,” taken from their 2006 film, Electroma. There has not yet been any published reason for the split.

Since their 90s’ Chicago house rootsDaft Punk have created some of the most recognizable pop anthems in dance history. They started with the two most inventively bedroom-produced albums of all time with Homework and Discovery, which included hits such as “Da Funk”, “Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger”, “Around the World” and the legendary “One More Time”. Their most recent full-length LP came in the form of Random Access Memories which found the duo teaming up with the likes of Nile Rodgers paying homage to disco and funk which inspired their groove-ridden retro-futuristic sound.

Over the course of nearly three decades, the pair, made up of Thomas Bangalter and Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo have revolutionized electronic music, evolving it past new realms for the next generation to do the same.

It’s a sad day for dance music fans across the globe, yet Daft Punk have left a lasting legacy along with a supreme discography proven to stand the test of time.

And we here at Get Some Magazine thank them for all the joyous music they have provided over their iconic 28-year career.
