CAN’T SWIM’S NEW ERA IS DEFINED BY THEIR NEW SINGLE “WORST AIN’T OVER YET”
Pop-punk heroes Can’t Swim first graced the scene over a decade ago, mending and breaking hearts. Their newest era is definitive of everything they have worked towards since then, culminating in a powerful performance that will resonate. Their newest single, a punchy anthem called “Worst Ain’t Over Yet,” oozes pop-punk goodness from start to finish.
Can’t Swim’s forthcoming record sounds like what you’d expect from the band. Gritty yet melodic vocals, driven basslines, and Motion City Soundtrack-esque composition. There are various subsets of pop-punk that bands are typically audibly inspired by. It’s fascinating to see the Motion City Soundtrack subgroup emerge specifically. They’re a significant point of reference for me; seeing how others have figured out their tricks is inspiring as an artist.
I’ve been told Can’t Swim puts on an incredible live show, and their tight studio performance reflects that. People can undoubtedly spend hours splicing together stems to make them sound decent. However, the best recordings emerge when highly skilled musicians enter the booth, ready to play. It is often forgotten that we are playing music. It’s supposed to be fun!
“Worst Ain’t Over Yet” contains relatable lyricism, killer lead vocals, insanely powerful guitar performances, and a memorable drumline that ties everything together. This is one of Can’t Swim’s best singles yet—it’s time to get excited for the album!
