CANNONS SHATTER POMONA'S GLASSHOUSE WITH ANOTHER SOLD-OUT SHOW

WORDS AND PHOTOS BY DANIELLE AGNELLO

On December 12, 2023, the sonically seductive powerhouse Cannons performed for a sold-out crowd at Glass House in Pomona, CA. This show was one of three dates celebrating the release of the band's fourth album, ‘Heartbeat Highway’. The innovative and charismatic DJ Valida kicked the night off as Cannons' supporting act and set the perfect vibe for an all-around incredible show.

With their melodic beats and dreamy synths, this indie pop-based trio effortlessly transported their audience to a new and exhilarating dimension. It is no wonder that selling out shows is so easy for them.

I have been a Cannons fan since 2020 when I came across their visually stunning "Fire For You" music video. This song is so all-consuming and catchy— you're hooked within ten seconds. Unsurprisingly, the song claimed number one on the Billboard Alternative Airplay chart in 2021.

After watching the video, I went down a Cannons rabbit hole and immediately became enamored with their chic style and groovy sound. Their songs are undeniably excellent and worthy of being played on repeat. I kept wondering why I hadn't heard of them before and if they would be just as good live. Turns out they are just as fantastic live, if not better!

Even if you don't typically enjoy dancing at shows, you will find yourself moving about and tapping your feet at a Cannons show. Even I, in the venue's designated photo pit, felt a subconscious urge to sway with the music as I was photographing. This band grooves so nicely you will not be able to restrain yourself.

Cannons' next show is at The Troubadour on December 22. If the show wasn't sold out, I'd suggest you buy a ticket. My recommendation is that you find a way to get in; it'll be worth your while to scour Stubhub for a chance to see this stellar band in an intimate venue.
