BRAND NEW ANNOUNCES FIRST FULL TOUR IN YEARS — HERE’S WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

It’s happening. It’s really happening.
After years of near silence, cryptic updates, and an uncertain future, Brand New has officially announced their first full tour since 2017, shaking the emo, alt-rock, and post-hardcore communities to their core. For longtime fans, it feels like the second coming — and for the skeptical, it’s a chance to see one of the most influential bands of the 2000s return to the stage with something to prove.
Let’s rewind.
In late 2017, at the height of Brand New’s legacy-tour arc and fresh off the release of their long-anticipated album Science Fiction, lead vocalist Jesse Lacey was accused of sexual misconduct. The allegations surfaced during the broader #MeToo movement and led to an abrupt halt of the band’s activity. Brand New canceled future tour plans, retreated from public life, and effectively went into indefinite hiatus. Lacey issued a public apology, but the damage — for many — was already done.
The band had always projected mystique. They were quiet in the press, cryptic online, and more focused on cultivating emotional depth than social media buzz. But the sudden silence after the allegations felt heavier — because for the first time, fans weren’t sure if the band could, or should, return.
Now, after nearly eight years, Brand New is back — not with a single date, not with a one-off festival gig, but with a full U.S. tour kicking off this May. The announcement comes with little fanfare but lots of intention. A simple message to fans. A handful of dates across major cities. And the looming question: How will this be received?
There’s no word yet on whether new music is on the horizon. The band hasn’t publicly addressed the circumstances of their return or the controversy that led to their hiatus. What we do know is that this tour isn’t a nostalgia grab — it’s a full-blown comeback. And in true Brand New fashion, they’re letting the music speak first.
