BLAZE FRANCISCO’S COVER OF REPUBLICA’S CLASSIC “READY TO GO” IS ALL KINDS OF AWESOME
Blaze Francisco is a Los Angeles–based rock ’n’ roller who has been tearing up the Southern California music scene for the past few years. What began as a creative outlet during the dark days of the pandemic has since grown into a full-fledged rock band, naturally led by Mr. Blaze himself.
Their new single “Ready To Go” takes on Republica’s iconic 1996 party-rock anthem and pushes it into heavier territory. Blaze Francisco cranks the intensity up a notch, layering thick guitar distortion, booming drums, and impassioned vocal screams while still holding onto the vibrant, infectious energy that made the original such a cultural staple.
Remaking a song as instantly recognizable as “Ready To Go” takes some serious confidence. The track has appeared in everything from movie soundtracks and commercials to radio countdowns and personal playlists for decades. But Blaze Francisco approach the challenge head-on, leaning into their strengths and delivering a version that doesn’t try to replicate the original’s hypnotic charm, but instead transforms it into something louder, grittier, and just as exhilarating.
