BEHIND THE SCENES WITH TIMMY FARMER: A COLLECTOR’S TALE FOR A GREAT CAUSE

When you work in the entertainment industry, especially as a camera operator on a show as dynamic as Jimmy Kimmel Live, every day can become a story worth telling. That story unfolded recently, blending my dual passions for music and giving back, thanks to a band called Flipturn, a piece of vinyl, and an idea to help those in need.

As the editor-in-chief of Get Some Magazine, I’ve spent countless hours immersing myself in the music world—interviewing artists, attending shows, and curating content that celebrates the creativity and community within the industry. But working on Jimmy Kimmel Live has brought me even closer to the magic of live performance. There’s an electricity on set that’s hard to describe, and it was palpable when Flipturn took the stage for their epic performance.

I could feel the energy radiating from the band and the audience from my spot behind the camera. It was one of those moments that reminds you why music matters—it connects us, transcends the ordinary, and reminds us of the joy in simply being alive. Little did I know that this particular performance would also lead to something bigger than just a great memory.

Before Flipturn’s set, Jimmy Kimmel introduced the band, as is tradition, holding a pristine vinyl copy of their latest release. That vinyl became the centerpiece of what happened next. After the cameras stopped rolling and the applause faded, I made it a mission to secure that same record. I thought, why not turn a memorable night into something that could help others?

With the vinyl in hand, I approached the band. I explained my idea: to auction it off through Get Some Magazine, with all proceeds going to the World Central Kitchen to support their relief efforts for those affected by the devastating California wildfires. The band didn’t just agree—they enthusiastically joined in by signing the record. Every member of Flipturn added their signature, turning a simple vinyl into a collector’s dream.

Now, this unique piece of music history is ready to find its next home. In collaboration with the band’s label Dualtone, we’re putting the signed vinyl up for auction on eBay. All the proceeds will go directly to the World Central Kitchen, an organization doing critical work to provide meals and support to people impacted by disasters, including the recent wildfires ravaging our home state. Furthermore, Dualtone has pledged to match the winning bid!

This experience has been a reminder of the ways music can bring people together—not just through the soundwaves but through opportunities to give back and make a difference. It’s also been a testament to the generosity of the artists who care as much about their fans and the world as they do about their craft.

If you’re a Flipturn fan, a vinyl enthusiast, or someone who wants to support a worthy cause, the auction is now LIVE on Get Some Magazine’s eBay page. Let’s turn the magic of a single night into tangible help for those who need it most. This is more than just memorabilia; it symbolizes what’s possible when passion, purpose, and music collide. And I can’t wait to see where it lands next.
