BEDROOM POP IS SO BACK IN ASARA’S “THANK YOU, THANK YOU”

Led by that classic bedroom pop metronome beat, “Thank You, Thank You” by Asara is a soothing, calm track that chronicles moving on. The light, slow strums of the acoustic guitar, mixed with the metronome's peppiness, create a dichotomy that conveys the existential feeling of being alone.

There’s something so intimate about the song, feeling like she’s singing it right next to you. Recorded on her grandfather’s vintage keyboard, that closeness effortlessly integrates itself into every crevice of the song.

It’s a song about looking back at a relationship, with a tinge of nonchalant sarcasm that effortlessly screams: “Thank God you’re gone.” It’s realizing that while somebody may have been toxic, it’s still a lesson learned, and a valuable one at that.

Asara’s vocals are smooth and absolutely perfect for this lo-fi style of music. She’s got an atmospheric, almost whispering tone throughout that cements it as the bedroom pop feel Clairo popularized.

This is where Asara shines in songs: slow and homey, with a tinge of sardonic energy. “Thank You, Thank You” is a perfect track for those who want to scream at those who hurt them, but can’t be bothered to give them that hateful energy. Instead, all they get is a simple thanks.
