BASEMENT TAKE OVER EAST LA WITH A LAST-MINUTE WIRED RELEASE SHOW

If you live in East LA, there’s a good chance you heard Basement’s album release show from your living room this past weekend. The UK emo and hardcore band pulled off a last-minute outdoor set at one of the area’s newest spots, Milky’s, celebrating the release of their fifth studio album WIRED, which is due out this Friday, 5/8.

With barely a week’s notice, thousands showed up Saturday night, wrapping lines around the block for a shot at seeing the band in a raw, no-barrier setting. Some fans got there as early as 9 am. The capacity filled up fast, but midway through the set, the back gate opened, letting in those who had been waiting for hours. It turned into something bigger than a typical show, more like a shared moment that kept expanding.

Basement sounded massive. The new material hit just as hard live as the older songs, and the band leaned all the way into it. The crowd matched them step for step, singing every word, throwing themselves into stage dives, and giving back every ounce of energy. It felt less like a set and more like a full release of everything that had been building all day.

Under a full moon, with the sound carrying through El Sereno and Monterey Hills, the whole thing took on this surreal, almost cinematic feel. Neighborhood streets filled with fans, locals stepping outside to figure out what was going on, and a wave of noise stretching well beyond the venue itself.

“This is the first time we’ve ever played these songs. We’re from the UK, and we’re so very grateful we get to do this in Los Angeles. Take care of one another,” frontman Andrew Fisher said between songs, as the band ran through a tight 12-song set blending new tracks with fan favorites.

WIRED is out this Friday, 5/8. Click HERE to pre-order!
