B. MILES’ TIMELY NEW SONG “XMAS SOX” CONJURES UP ALL KINDS OF FEELS AND EMOTIONS

You see them everywhere before the holidays, those “perfect stocking stuffers”: Christmas socks. They come in all shapes, sizes, materials and designs. Keeping your feet warm and cozy. But do we attach sentimental meaning around them but instead maybe regift or put them up for the taking at a seasonal White elephant party? Maybe yes, maybe no.

However, New York-based pop singer/songwriter B. Miles has found a deeper meaning in her socks. Wearing her ex’s Christmas socks floods her inside with memories of the relationship she once had. B. Miles said, “There is unlikely metaphor inside the socks.”

The charm and comfort she once had wearing them has shifted now to something else: more downbeat and somber. B. Miles is turning inward and reflecting on her buried emotions in her relationship with her ex and within those socks.

The melodic, quirky, lividly detailed song retells an awkward encounter with her ex at a bar/club while wearing his Christmas socks. By the way, he doesn’t know she took them, either. She’s meditating on that as well. The anxiety and sadness are palatable in the song. Who can’t relate to a possible awkward chance encounter with their ex, especially around the holidays? That makes it all the more heartbreaking.

It remains to be seen if B. Miles's “Xmas Sox” could become an alternative pop classic played regularly at this time of year, but it’s a worthy contender. The song is expressed from a unique perspective and point of view. “Xmas Sox” is very relatable really to anyone who has experienced a loss in love.
