AY WING RELEASES NEW EP WITH TITLE TRACK “POISON IVY”
Ay Wing’s new song, “Poison Ivy” (yes, that is a nod to the iconic Batman character), is the title track of her latest EP, and it’s confirmed that it will have you dancing around your room to the upbeat, groovy R&B track. Go ahead and try to sit still. This one is for Mac Demarco, Faye Webster, and Tame Impala fans. Oh, and Batman.
It opens up with groovy reverb-y guitar and upfront vocals with super creative lyrics that will grab your attention immediately. The song explores relatable themes like getting lost in someone else, lust, and intense temptation.
“Poison Ivy stole my ID
Don’t know who I am anymore
Poison Ivy in my psyche
Don’t know what I feel anymore.”
You can hear the emotion in her signature sweet and dreamy background vocals, with filtered melodic guitars that give the pockets between them such a fun and timeless feeling. As soon as the chorus is done, I miss it. There’s something instantly classic about this song. It's the kind of song with an atmosphere you can get lost in.
She tells us, “This EP is deeply personal, where I express raw, unfiltered emotions and my true self in the moment. Healing poured out like a stream of consciousness —vulnerable, real, and as honest as open-heart surgery”.
This Swiss-born, Berlin-based songwriter is doing something refreshing with her sound, something I haven’t heard in a while. You should be excited to stream the other four songs on this project, out now!
