AIRHOCKEY RETURNS WITH GOTH PARTY HIT “LITTLE FRIDAY”
Goth clubs have a new banger to add to their in-house playlists thanks to airhockey. Their latest single, “little friday,” is perfectly situated at the corner of classic goth jams and modern-day tastes. Using a drum machine gives a new wave edge while still feeling fresh.
The song offers a strong vocal performance, though it is heavily distorted by reverb and other effects to add to the moody ambiance. Still, the bells and whistles don’t deter listeners from the song's heart. Instead, they add depth to the layers, creating a grooving, balanced track.
I spent an embarrassing amount of time puzzled by what “little friday” could mean. Then, I said, “DOH!” out loud….realizing it was about a THURSDAY NIGHT. Everybody writes songs about going out on a Friday night, so it’s nice to see Thursday receiving its flowers. I bet Geoff Rickly would jump for joy if he heard this song—moodily and brooding.
airhockey is right about a lot of things. Firstly, they are a lowercase band. They even sing in lowercase; I mean that as a compliment since not everything always needs to be belted out. Secondly, everyone deserves the right to make their own decisions. If you want to go out on a Thursday instead of the weekend like everyone else does, screw it. You have free will!
