AFI ANNOUNCE NEW ALBUM 'BODIES', RELEASE TWO NEW SINGLES
As if there was no hope for humanity in this abdominal age of COVID, the gents in Los Angeles-based rock outfit AFI have delivered us a sonic vaccine of sorts; new music.
Today, AFI has released two new tracks into the world. Titled “Looking Tragic” and “Begging For Trouble”, the two singles mark the band’s first drop of new music since “Twisted Tongues” and “Escape From Los Angeles", both released earlier this year.
As if new music wasn’t enough, the band also revealed a new album is set to drop on June 11th. Titled ‘Bodies’, the album marks the band’s 11th studio album and their first on Rise Records, which drops ironically on June 11th.
Drummer Adam Carson weighed in on his efforts on “Begging For Trouble” stating, “After years of receiving early versions of songs from Jade and Davey, in forms that span loosely arranged chords and scratch vocal to fully realized demos, I think I have become quite adept at knowing which songs will or will not make the record,” he says. “‘Begging For Trouble’ was greenlit, at least in my mind, the moment I heard the vocals come in. To me, the track is a cornerstone of the new record.”
Furthermore, “Looking Tragic” is the top track adored by frontman Davey Havok. “‘Looking Tragic’ addresses the theme of overstimulation resulting in desensitization,” Havok stated. “Melodic and driving, the song came to life quickly and immediately stood out as a track to make bodies, if not sentiments, move.”
