A POST-PUNK DANCE HIT: JUPE JUPE’S “A GAME OF WAIT AND SEE”

Jupe Jupe is back again with “A Game of Wait and See,” another track to be included on their upcoming album—King of Sorrows. The brooding soundscape of this fast post-punk single takes listeners on a journey that’s best worked out on the dancefloor.

Clocking in at over 4 minutes at 155 bpm, the track is daring and expressive, inviting listeners to groove. The bright synths and harrowing basslines are heavy-hitting and give it a twist that breaks up their past, slower darkwave work. Jupe Jupe has a flair for the dramatic in this song – giving into the cinematic, fast, and fun side of many post-punk/new wave-adjacent tracks. But overall, the band’s dark overtones come through.

The single explores the restless feeling of yearning. With repetition of “you hope” and motifs of attention through “watch” and “belonging,” it’s clear that the lyrics are asking for more. They’re screaming for interaction and validation.

The vocals by My Young are incredibly impactful, especially during the chorus, crying out a haunting tune that effortlessly conveys a craving conviction. It follows with an epic synth breakdown that is both eerie and witty.

It’s fast and peppy, with that iconic Halloween riff that feels like a heartbeat, making it a perfect club song. Those darkwave DJs need to get a hold of this track immediately and never let go. Jupe Jupe should absolutely keep making gutsy tracks like “A Game of Wait and See,” as their strengths are beautifully showcased in this style.
