3TEETH’S DECADE OF INDUSTRIAL CHAOS DOMINATES AT THE BELLWETHER IN LOS ANGLEES
Stepping into Bellwether for the first time felt like entering an industrial cathedral, ideally suited for the dark, pulsating energy of 3Teeth’s 10th anniversary celebration. This marked a milestone for the band and a personal first for me as a photographer in the industrial metal scene.
The night unfolded with a progression of intensity. Purest Form opened with a haunting ambiance, casting long shadows with minimal light, while their sound wove a sonic intro for the night. Black Magnet turned up the voltage, bringing a grittier edge and challenging dynamics to capture. Then came Gost. Their sound was a pulsating fusion of retro synth-wave and raw industrial power—a sonic juxtaposition that was both jarring and hypnotic. While the music pushed boundaries, Gost’s performance pulled the crowd into an otherworldly experience.
The venue was a sea of anticipation by the time 3Teeth took the stage. Their performance was a masterclass in industrial aesthetics—deep reds dominated the set, creating an oppressive yet mesmerizing atmosphere. The lighting, often a nemesis in such environments, became an ally as I leaned into the drama of the shadows and the striking crimson hues. Editing these moments later felt like painting with fire, every frame pulsing with intensity. The shoot was a lesson in adaptability and finding beauty in chaos. Bellwether’s stark yet dynamic stage design pushed me to experiment, and 3Teeth’s raw energy made every challenge worth it.
3Teeth’s performance was a visceral assault on the senses, blending their signature industrial sound with a visual aesthetic that felt both oppressive and electrifying. The deep, pulsating rhythms and growling vocals were matched by the relentless red lighting that bathed the stage, creating an atmosphere that was both chaotic and deliberate. Each song seemed to carry the weight of their decade-long journey, resonating with raw intensity and precision. It was a performance that didn’t just entertain but demanded attention, leaving an indelible impression that captured the very essence of industrial metal’s dark allure.
