“YOU” BY CHRISTIAN ALEXANDER IS A PUNCHY AND SLOW-BURNING MASTERPIECE

Boots crunching autumn leaves, stone between train tracks, and a cool breeze are where Christian Alexander’s homey new release transports you. “You” is a slow-building, beautifully strummed song that makes you want to explore the unknown. The prime example of DIY success, Alexander is gearing up for his new EP this spring, just off the release of his November album, ‘11.’

You may know the UK-based artist from his popular songs like the Have A Nice Life-sounding “Going Thru” or the more emo rap-adjacent track of “Peter Parker.” In this track, though, he tries something new, exploring a more fast-paced tempo while still maintaining those achy, authentically raw vocals that he’s known for. There is power in his voice, something that he’s not shy to harness, but still maintains an inherent intentionality with it. His wispy, echoey whispers mirror the steady and layered beat. It’s kicked off with a groove from the drums that mimics the sounds of a slow-moving train.

Inherently an indie classic, the tinges of folk influence from the “oohs” to the unplugged instruments that are present make this a jaw-droppingly crisp song. He speaks of moments of love, consistently repeating “I fall for you.” As the trumpets come in and his voice is skillfully layered, the backbone of the song shines with the acoustic guitar solo.

Each moment of the track, from the blissful introductory melody at the beginning to the yearning shouts towards the song’s conclusion, illustrates the many talents that Alexander possesses.  He flawlessly executes a beautiful symphony while maintaining a simplicity hard to beat.

It’s a dreamy, bright song that is a fresh introduction to what is yet to come. We’re incredibly excited to hear more from Christian Alexander, a true self-made musician.
