DRAIN ANNOUNCE NEW ALBUM …IS YOUR FRIEND, OUT NOVEMBER 7 VIA EPITAPH
California hardcore heroes DRAIN are back and coming in hotter than a circle pit in July. The band just announced their third full-length album, …Is Your Friend, due out November 7th via Epitaph Records, and they’ve wasted no time setting the tone with a chaotic new single and video, “Nights Like These.”
Clocking in with all the energy, grit, and sunshine-fueled violence we’ve come to expect from DRAIN, “Nights Like These” is a sonic sledgehammer. It’s fast, it’s aggressive, and it’s got that signature bounce that turns every venue into a warzone. But there’s also a sense of clarity in the chaos—a tightness to the songwriting and production that shows DRAIN is leveling up without letting go of what made them dangerous in the first place.
Kicking things off with the explosive, bounce-heavy anthem “Nights Like These,” frontman Sammy Ciaramitaro takes a moment to reflect on the lifelong dreams that have somehow become just another Tuesday for DRAIN: “Over the last decade of doing DRAIN, I've been able to see the world, meet incredible people, experience all sorts of incredible highs and even a couple of lows - but most importantly, I got to do all of those things with my best friends. No matter how much we accomplish and how big we grow - we are still just a couple of friends who get to play music together, make memories all over the world, and we are SO aware of how lucky we are to do it. THAT is what "Nights Like These" is about.”
The video, directed by Derek Rathbun, is a full-throttle mix of skate-punk aesthetics, backyard show nostalgia, and DRAIN’s signature high-energy performance style. It’s part music video, part celebration of community, and all adrenaline.
The upcoming album …Is Your Friend follows their 2023 breakthrough Living Proof, and if “Nights Like These” is any indication, this new record is set to bring even more chaos, catharsis, and West Coast hardcore heat. With Epitaph once again behind them, DRAIN is poised to keep their momentum surging straight through the end of the year.
Whether you’ve been two-stepping with DRAIN since day one or you’re just now catching the wave, one thing’s clear: this band is not slowing down. Not now. Not ever.
